Mission Statement:            Learning and growing together with kindness, confidence and high aspirations

Intent:                                    Our intention at Emley First School is for every child:

  • to have access to a curriculum that is broad, balanced, relevant and takes into account our rural setting, that provides life skills and a wealth of age appropriate knowledge that is transferable, preparing them for the next stage of their life’s journey
  • to always believe in themselves, to be confident and resilient, aspire to do their best with high expectations enabling them to achieve their individual potential and be proud of themselves and their achievements
  • to be happy and contented with who they are, be able to congratulate others when they achieve and remain respectful of others opinions and beliefs
  • to be active, curious learners who are able to take risks and persevere when things get tough
  • to have staff who are ambitious for themselves and for the children, who create environments which enable all children to maximise their full potential

Our school was inspected by Ofsted in May 2013. Please click below to read our report.

Safeguarding & SENCO

Our Designated Safeguarding Leads are Mrs Schofield, Mrs Cameron and Mrs Youle and they can be contact during school hours on 01924 326802 and out of school hours via head@emleyschool.co.uk

Our Special Needs Coordinator (SENCO) is Mrs Hannah Pitt who can be contacted on 01924 326802 or senco@emleyschool.co.uk

Our school is part of Operation Encompass. This is a police and education early intervention safeguarding partnership which supports children and young people who experience Domestic Abuse.

Operation Encompass means that the Education Safeguarding Service will share information about Domestic Abuse incidents with our school PRIOR to the start of the next school day when the police have been called to a domestic incident.

Once DSL has attended at an Operation Encompass briefing, they will cascade the principles of Operation Encompass to all DDSL’s.

Our parents are fully aware that we are an Operation Encompass school.

The Operation Encompass information is stored in line with all other confidential safeguarding and child protection information.

The DSL has also led training for all school staff and Governors about Operation Encompass, the prevalence of Domestic Abuse and the impact of this abuse on children. We have also discussed how we can support our children following the Operation Encompass notification.

We are aware that we must do nothing that puts the child/ren or the non-abusing adult at risk.

The Safeguarding Governor will report on Operation Encompass in the termly report to Governors. All information is anonymised for these reports.

    Friday 19th March
Dear Parents, On Friday afternoon (19th) it is our Birthday party celebration and as it is also Red Nosed Day we would like all children to wear something red if possible. If not, non-uniform is fine. The theme of the day will be smiling, laughing and having lots of fun. If children want to come prepared with jokes, they can do.

    Joining Teams Meetings
Good morning Please ensure that your child does not start a Teams Remote Learning session before their teacher as if they do it can mean that children take control of the meeting and this stops their teacher from being able to access it or share their screen in order for them to be able to teach. Thank you for your assistance with this matter Kind regards

Road Safety Song

Here is our Road Safety Song all about parking safely round school. We performed this to PC Caroline Newsome and parish councillors. It is part of a project initiated by councillors Paula Kemp and Janet Depledge, that has received the backing of both the Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents (RoSPA) and West Yorkshire Police.
