Online Safety
Here you will find lots of information about e-safety and keeping children safe.
Do you feel like your children are one step ahead of you when it comes to IT? Here you'll find lots of useful links to sites that can help you monitor your child's Internet use. Search engines such as Google have ‘search settings’ buttons which you can alter to restrict searches and filter out inappropriate content for children. This is usually a simple tick box wizard which takes little time to complete.
It is advisable to have some kind of parental control software. Some software can be downloaded from the internet for free. Technology will keep changing so it's important to keep yourself up to date!

Child Friendly Search Engines
Here are some great search engines for you to use when you are looking up things on the Internet. Whether it’s for homework or just for fun, you are bound to find what you are looking for on one of these sites!
Remember, different search engines work in different ways so make sure you choose an appropriate search engine for what you are looking for. For example, the cbbc safe search only searches information on the bbc website. However, ‘kidrex’ searches the whole of the Internet for what you are looking for. It is always worth trying several search engines until you find what you are looking for.
Remember, even on a ‘safe’ search engine, like the ones below, you can sometimes find inappropriate webpages or images. We teach the children at school that if you ever see anything online that makes you feel uncomfortable, make sure you shut down the screen and tell a trusted adult as soon as possible.
