Welcome to Emley First School.

Home Learning

In order to support families during our closure due to Corona virus each class teacher has created a weekly timetable of suggested activities. This can be accessed by clicking on the Home Learning tab above and then your child's own class name. The next grids will be uploaded on Friday 17th April for the following week.

We hope that you are finding the Home Learning sheets useful however, as the government have stated, nobody should feel under pressure to replicate school at home as this is just not feasible. Please do not worry if you are not getting any of the activities on the home learning sheets completed. We, like many of you, are trying to work ourselves whilst also caring for our own children and we know this can be very challenging and stressful. In these unprecedented circumstances families need to make the situation work for themselves and where possible keeping some routines in place will help children. If children are able to regularly complete school tasks for a short amount of time each day with a focus on reading, continuing to learn the times tables up to 12 x 12 and being able to tell the time this will hopefully help them to keep up their positive attitude towards learning. We believe it is equally important that children learn about household activities and develop life skills so by helping around the house doing jobs such as cleaning, gardening, washing up, changing beds, cooking and helping with the washing children are developing these key skills.

The National Curriculum objectives can be accessed by clicking on the Statutory Information tab then clicking on the National Curriculum tab.

Please stay safe and take care.

School Motto“Flourishing Together”

Mission Statement: “Learning and growing together with kindness, confidence and high aspirations”.

Our intention at Emley First School is for every child:

  • to have access to a curriculum that is broad and balanced, that provides life skills and a wealth of age appropriate knowledge that is transferable, preparing them for the next stage of their life’s journey
  • to always believe in themselves, to be confident and resilient, aspire to do their best with high expectations enabling them to achieve their individual potential and be proud of themselves and their achievements
  • to be happy and contented with who they are, be able to congratulate others when they achieve and remain respectful of opinions and beliefs
  • to be active, curious learners who are able to take risks and persevere when things get tough.
  • to have staff who are ambitious for themselves and for the children, who create environments which enable all children to maximise their full potential

Road Safety Song

Here is our Road Safety Song all about parking safely round school. We performed this to PC Caroline Newsome and parish councillors. It is part of a project initiated by councillors Paula Kemp and Janet Depledge, that has received the backing of both the Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents (RoSPA) and West Yorkshire Police.
